Got Tuned!

Well, I made the switch from UTEC to EcuTek. Ed with EQTuning did an awesome job! He pulled some strong, consistant numbers. My rex runs smooth all the way to 7,350rpm! Lots of torque! 292.2whp / 264.6 ft lbf.

In case you're wondering, here's a short list of my mods.

vf39
jdm sti injectors
stage II cylinder heads
Walbro fuel pump
cold air intake
catless uppipe
catless turbo-back exhaust

Also running on 96-97 octane

Hey Jeromey,

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your car. Here's your graph:

I'd also like to mention that this is on the stock tmic and with a somewhat hacked together custom downpipe. With a bigger tmic, this car should easily be over 300whp. We also used a GM boost solenoid to achieve much better spoolup and boost response than with the stock solenoid.

Thanks

So what does the Stg. 2 head consist of?? I'm starting to consider a road tune soon, so I might give Ed a call one of these days.

Jeromey's heads are basically just ported and polished with upgraded valves. I wish we had a before/after comparison as it would be interesting how much of that power can be attributed to the heads, but sadly we don't have a baseline before the heads.

Thanks

I was looking for a lot more torque on the low to mid end. So with that in mind, Replika Machinen in San Jose ported and polished, enlargened the exhaust ports, racing valves/titanium internals and a lot of other work a little too techincal for me to understand.

I forgot to mention that I also had the intake manifold port matched to the cylinder heads as well as polished.

All this ran around $2,300.

As for tuning, definately give Ed a call. He is an extreme perfectionist with tuning! He also modded a GM boost controller from the Cyclone which replaced the oem Denso unit. It allows for faster spool and higher boost levels. Genius!

Thanks for the compliment, but I can't take credit for the GM Boost solenoid. There have been a good deal of people using them on nasioc and since I liked how well the Perrin EBCS worked on a previous car, I decided to give the GM unit a try. So far it works atleast as well as the Perrin unit for a fraction of the cost. I will likely make this available as an option to all of my customers.

Thanks
