i remember a little more than a year ago there was a website http://maps.a9.com/ that did something like this, but not as high resolution.

heh, yeah, I saw these guys a few weeks ago parked in front of my house, green windowless RSO van with a big round turret on top with a bunch of cameras poking out. they were parked there reading a map and I asked them what the hell the cameras were all about. They said they were doing full street maping for a search engine but couldnt tell me who (duh) odd thing is they my streets on on there, they got 19th ave and 17th ave but not 18th ave. I wanted to see my car in the driveway

This is a very cool feature from Google Maps. I think it's useful.

Except, they need to fill out the map even more...
