Good Suggestions "Brakes Squeal"
Good Suggestions "Brakes Squeal"
I just bought a 2010 STI wagon, and the brake squeal like crazy.. I took the tires off cleaned everything off and I lube everything back up and it still squeals. I believe I'm gonna have to buy new pad can any recommend good pads where there is no squealing.
Thank

You have brembos, they tend to squeel a bit. Did you apply plenty of brake pad grease on the pad and on shim?

What pads are they? More aggressive pads tend to squeal more than stock.
If in doubt, FLAT OUT

Don't most of the pads have built in kevlar shims for squeal reduction already? What pads? Did you just replace them or they just squealed since you bought it? If you just replaced them, did you properly bed them in?

Also want to throw this possibility in the ring:
Some (read: very few) Brembos on the STI and Evo have to use OEM Brembo pads. If you replace them with an aftermarket pad, they will make an unholy, wake the dead high frequency noise. This does not mean they are bad, or that they are not working normally. The calipers will function as usual, but you will have intolerable noise when braking; I'm talking about noise that makes track-only pads seem lovely.
Check if the pads are Brembo pads. If not, you may be in the situation I am in with my Evo IX Brembos, where you have to use Brembo pads only. I recommend installing Brembo pads if yours are not. For what it's worth, my solution was to replace the Brembo front setup with an Essex Motorsports AP Racing competition brake kit. Most people don't need more pad than OEM Brembo, so you may not mind that restriction.
