twin peaks is in the middle of the city. you can get there by driving up markert street from down town or up portola from the other side of the city. another nice place to take good pics is Grand View park. Its at the top of Moraga a few blocks east form 19th avenue. you have to climb up about 100 steps to get up there but its worth it. it also has an awsome view of the beach and golden gate bridge and park. on a clear day head up to Mt. Tam in marin county. you can get some really nice shots of the sunrise with SF, Oakland and the rest of the south bay.
Twin Peaks rocks. Sweet place to take a girl as well.
One of my fav sights of the sunrise was driving to work, 280S just as you get out of the city and you can see out across where Candlestick is, I would usually crest the hill there around 7 or so after dropping my girl off in SOMA for work and it's nice. The light reflecting off the Bay, etc. Some sweet views.
There is a book by a photographer named Galen Rowell (RIP) who was from the Bay Area and a friend of my Pops. He took some really jaw dropping pics all over the Bay. It's really worth a look, and you can get some ideas for some truly amazing photo spots close to home. If I find it in one of my boxes, I will post the name but look around, it's totally worth it.
Found it: Bay Area Wild by Galen Rowell..

Go over to Lighthouse point on the Marin side of the GG bridge.
You basically cross the bridge and than take the 1st exit going back under the road.
You will be shocked by the view and be able to photo the bridge from the west side
