Good place to Fix AC?
Hey guys I got a leak somewhere in my ac. I need some help finding a good trustworthy place to fix it. Any ideas locally in the bay area?

How do you know it's a leak?

Refilled it about a week and the freon is completely gone. The compressor was spinning and everything before the freon dissipated. |
By chance, did you use R134 with dye in it?
|
I did use the R134A but no dye. Where can I find the one with the dye inside? I think I'm gonna try and tackle this myself if possible. Chet's is trying to charge more than 200 just to find the leak. Repairing it is more. I read the part about the stems being leaky so I will look out for those as well. I've changed the o-rings before as well when I was about to recharge the system. So I am at a lost.

i know theres one place in fremont, kinda hidden. theyre really nice there. i was suppose to get work done there to try to repair my car but just decided to get a new car instead. they dont charge for inspection and theyre extremely knowledgable.
give em a call. High Street Automotive Service 41060 A High Street Fremont CA 95438 (510)657-6653 Ask for Terry Madsen. Hope that helps. |
Thanks I will try to fix it myself first.

So here's the update I recharged the system and threw the UV dye in. Check to see if there was any leaks. No visible leaks whatsoever. Its been half a day, I've been driving around with the ac at full blast its cold. I also used a sealant that came with the dye so hopefully that fixed it. I believe the pressure for the low side is 45psi? Is that correct?Right now its exactly at 25psi according to the gauge that came with the r134. Now if I run out of refrigerant again what would be the cause this time? The compressor?

hmm.. i wouldn't know but why don't you try going to the place i mentioned . they won't charge you for the inspection and you're not obligated to pay for anything.. i think they would be the people to ask if you wanted to find out if it's the compressor.. that's how i found out about my compressor.. my AC blows cold but only for a little bit, and then it would cut out, I found out it's because of my compressor and the air wasn't circulating (something like that). Like I said before, give that place a try. Hope you find out the problem soon.. It's getting really hot lately.. |
