So are his current owners getting rid of him because they don't have the time and/or energy to play with him and walk him? Yet their expecting their second child? Yikes!
Crate training is a great source of training. Leaving a dog in a crate all day is not crate training. You'd be amazed what a little bit of one on one time and a few walks a week would do.
And lil'fuzz, should definitely do some more research before you post crap like that. For one, Staffordshire Terriers and American Pit Bull Terriers are two different breeds. Due to bad owners and the media, there's a lot of places (organizations/dog shows/books) that don't recognize the American Pit Bull Terrier breed. And the "over weight stubby hippo's" you refer to, are also technically another breed known as "American Bullies". The overweight Pit Bulls you see out there aren't full blooded Pit Bulls. They're either mixed with American Bulldogs (hence the name "Bullie") or Mastif. For a long time, they were being registered as American Pit Bull Terriers but they are now becoming their own breed and kennel clubs are making standards for the breed. True American Pit Bull Terriers are actually suppose to be lean, fit game dogs. And you can breed anything to fight, if I had the skills Id train grass hoopers MMA.
Here's a couple examples of the different type of Pit Bulls...
This is the Staffordshire Terrier

This is the American Pitbull Terrier

And this is an American Bullie

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but I really felt the need to clear things up. Sorry OP
