good free antivirus
Avast and AVG are good. I tried AVG and now I'm using Avast. Seriously, Avast is complicated. I really liked how AVG was very easy to use and how it was still a good anti-virus. I think I will go back to AVG....sorry Gagan lol.

Coming from an IT Consultant, AVG is the best free antivirus out there. Avast is also good, but have had clients complain about it hogging up resources at the wrong times.

+1 for AVG and Avast.. you can't really go wrong w/ either.
Note that anti-virus programs will not prevent you from getting a virus by clicking on a bad link/file. They'll help prevent backdoor access or if you've downloaded the file and haven't opened it yet.
