Don't challenge the Aussies to a drinking match

I only know about the touristy stuff, I don't have any insider info for you. All I can think of is to convince one of the Skyline owners to let you drive for a little bit

I spent alot of time in AU and Sydney was the place I liked the least. See if you can get out of Sydney and get to the Blue Mountains nearby, or up to the Gold Coast, or even down to Melbourne.

If you like beaches, surfing etc go to Bondi definatley, very touristy but worth seeing (if your going in aussie summer that is) , if you want a cool beach go down to Coogee, its like 10 mins from middle of sydney, proper nice place, and a brilliant night out in the coogee bay hotel/bar/club. Theres so much in sydney, you either love it or hate it going off what most people say, personally i cant think of a better city, freaking insane nights out!! Check out the harbour bridge etc (pretty obvious i know). BLue mountains are sweet, city centre is busy and lots to see. YOu should also check out some sport if possible (if your into it) , rugby, aussie rules are brilliant experiences. Let me know where your thinking of going / stopping and i may be able to let you know more!

I didnt think the night scene was anything really cool there. We found like two cool bars in Kings Cross. I would have to say Melbourne had the way better night life, the nights out down there were truely insane.

I dont know why the Aussies get such a crazy drinking rep either. Alcohol is 3 times as expensive as here and most people drink beer in half pints called "pots." When we showed up, we were the true drinking heros.

A-Firm! Yea, in most places in Europe, if you order a beverage it comes in a massive drinking vessel. Or at the very least a true pint. However, in some places they skimp on you. Much like you stated above, my buddies and I were cruising through Amsterdam and came across the tiny drink syndrome. While in the town square we ordered beers at one of the bars and to our surprise they came in little tiny glasses. Our next round consisted of an entire tray of these child sized servings. In their minds, enough to serve 4 times as many people as intended.

There are some mint bars in Kings Cross yes, i can appreciate Melbourne is mint, but like i said before people either love or hate relationship with Sydney, i spent a long time travelling around Oz and it seemed if you liked Melbourne you dint really care for Sydney and Vice Versa, Its down to personal preferance i guess. Ozzies ARE serious drinkers, although the English were better. The half sized beers are called scooners or pots yeah, its cos there obsessed with the beer not getting too warm. Thats why half the time there served in smaller glasses surrounded by insulating foam. Looks gay as **** but it works lol.
Which bars in Kings Cross did you like ? O'Malleys was pretty mint, with live music every night!
