Food is hit and miss, in my experience... London definitely has some of the best Indian food I've had anywhere.
On the other hand, I got mad food poisoning from a pre-made sandwich at the British Museum.

explore the outskirts in a nice rental car and find the cool go kart and hillclimb tracks and watch some track days.
not sure how close these are to london, but if you research before you go, you can have a nice day trip. Snetterton | Anglesey | Cadwell Park | Castle Combe | Croft | Brands Hatch | Donington Park | Goodwood | Knockhill | Lydden | Mallory Park | Mondello Park
Oulton Park | Pembrey | Rockingham | Silverstone | Thruxton | Prestwold Hall |
i know Cadwell is a dream track if you like slow/technical/elevation change

I'm English and lived in London for three years in the early 80's.
Get a good street map of London - or a copy of the A-Z. Get a London Transport pass for the week or however long you will be there. Make sure it covers all the zones that you think you might visit. It will be good for both the bus and the underground. To really know your way around take the bus instead of the underground. The # 11 bus has an interesting route that goes from east of Fleet Street (great pubs there) to west of Kings Road (another interesting area).
Definitely try the Indian food and the fish & chips from a "Chippy".
Another cool place to visit is Petticoat Lane - it's a street market.
I can also point you to some great Folk Clubs and dance places if that's your thing. Night clubs were not my style!

Dude if your looking for castle's and all that sort of stuff / historic cities hit up York. Im from England so i can assure you its pretty kewl. You ought to see if you can find some 'cruises', Big car meets that go on regularly. You will see some cool ****. I think Brighton on the south coast has a big meet. Just search around the internet im sure you will find something. Londons pretty kewl but like quite a few others have said there are many places outside of London that are well worth visiting. Yorkshire dales are class, well Yorkshire in general (bit biased as im from there) it is definatly worth a visit. You could, even though it may not be your cup of tea, hit up some premiership soccer games. Great atmosphere !!! Theres loads to do, if you have any questions pm me, im happy to help!
