Going To Germany
Well I got my assignment yesterday and it looks like I am headed to Darmstadt, Germany until September of 2007. Of course this can all change between now and December when I am scheduled to ship, but regardless I am elated. I guess I will miss paying $2.40 a gallon for gas, since it is like $5.00 there. Oh well, I get a gas ration every month from the Army at U.S. prices, and they are gonna ship my car there for free. Woohoo.
So I was looking at the prices of WRX's over there and they are like $35 to $40 grand for the WRX, so I will definately be selling my car before I return to the States.
Autobahn, Alps, Beer, Women, here I come!

Yeah, I think it will be a blast, as long as I can afford the car insurance rates over there. I've been reading that it isn't unusual to pay more for insurance than for your monthly payment

So what do you guys think about me selling my car over there. It woudn't be until 2007, but I am thinking that I would get more for it there than I would back here. I wish I could afford the WR1, and not have problems bringing it back to the States, but I have heard some horror stories about getting non-U.S. spec cars back into the States.
WRX's arn't that expensive over there. When I was looking a few years ago, they wanted 14g's for one that was 6 months old. Germans don't really like Japanese cars. So the resale value is low. Also they tend to sell them cheap when they get to 100k km (60k miles) because it cost more for taxes once they break 100k. You can go to www.mobile.de for used cars. Use Great Britan language and then search for germany. Lots of good deals there. If you do bring one over there the only people that could buy it are other americans and don't even think about converting a euro spec vehicle and try bring it back. It is sooooo expensive!!! What you need to do is buy a classic porsche (25 years or older) and then you can bring it back with out converting anything. I know people that do this all the time and make money off them when they get back. If you have any question pm me. I was there for 5 years and my wife is german and her dad is a Polizi over there (never once got a ticket!!!) later

I enlisted back in September of 2002, and I have been at DLI in California studying Arabic. I get done with my training in November of this year though. I am not going to the 1st Armored Division in Weisbaden, although my girlfriend is. I am going to a strategic unit, the 2nd MI Batallion in Darmstadt. So I will be sitting around Germany listening to communications and my girlfriend is going to be playing in the dirt, sand, and mud. Strange, but that's just the way it worked out. It is the Army after all.

I wish i was at DLIFLC
i should have a buddy that finished the q-course there now... he should have his Special Forces tab but i haven't talked to him in a year so... Goodluck on your Arabic DLPT
I was in Germany for about 2months training with the 313 german fallschirmjager para's as a unit exchange for my german wings and schutzenschnur. Undoubtedly the best two months of my life... hands down. I'm jealous...
