My sense is GKR has a more defined business model: go after the corporate money (ie. team building events); I'm guessing that's how the Burlingame site makes a lot of their revenue. With Oracle and the Bishop Ranch Business area in the Tri-Valley neighborhood, they'll probably do pretty well.
speedring was kinda up tight the couple times i went. gotta give them credit for being one of the first in this area.

hey all -
More tracks may actually creat more interest in karting, so that's a good thing. It has proven out in Orange County. From what I understand, GKR Dublin has been in the works for nearly 2 years...it is usually a slow process to get a track open, even with bldg ownership. Plus now is a crappy time to open as demand as lulled significantly for all tracks in the US. Umigo is open and is not advertising on TV, because it can be a waste of resources. We get and support the company and group events better than most as we have the space and talented resources to make a small or big event rock. We thrive on word of mouth and cooperative marketing. Being a family owned business, we are focused on our customers and the value we provide. Our prices are the best because we provide more track time for the money and our track is the largest around, not to mention that we run 20 different configurations so you don't get bored. No one in the world is doing that. Enough of the commercial...but this week is a huge discount week there...check it out if you can.

I really enjoyed Umigo when I went. Wide, like Lemans, but technical like GKR. It's a bit slippery last I went on a few corners, but that doesn't matter because that's when the rally experience comes in to go fast in low traction scenarios.
It's just so far for us south bay'ers.
