Go SLOW on HWY 17.
Hey,
You may recall the article I posted about the 280 speed crackdown. Well it resulted in 400 speeding citations above the normal quantity.
Here is a new one scheduled for HWY 17.

Have fun, but be safe!

Thank you for the info. I drive HWY 17 everday, and have not seen a rise in the patrolling yet. But now I am on the lookout. And yes, I need to get myself a V1 as well.

yeah....basically Santa Cruz county got a state grant to up it's patrols through the weekend after the 1st.
Patrols are up everywhere....even into watsonville. I roll through there all the time and it's insane.... I saw 3 pulled over with people in literally under 5 miles on highway 1.
So yeah...keep it squeezy and you'll be cool.

I saw a guy standing on the side of the road with a standard patrol on my way down to pismo a few weeks back.....car was up on a truck getting towed away......dude was laughing his butt off. I figure someone tried to run on him and he just stuffed em....haaaaa.
Don't mess with chp...the chevy sedans run the same motor as the camaro.
One time they had a patrol car straddling both lanes like a pace car......then at every big turnout there were pairs of patrol cars with their engines running ready to go......that sucked, but its probably for the good of all the people that drive 17 in their bigass suvs while talking on the cell phone.

Thanks for the heads up.
Do you guys really think a V1 would be effective on hwy 17 given all the curves and elevation changes? I've thought about getting one to use for trips to Tahoe - seems like 80 on 80 is the normal speed and it is a nice, straight road for a while...

From my understanding, and don't quote me on this, is that you'll probably get residual radar signals from them bouncing off the other cars in front of you, even around corners, and the fact that there's a whole mess of crap to bounce off of in that tight a road would still make a V1 effective?
Yup! saw an unmarked black crown victoria today. pulled over a jeep i think before the soquel exit. noticed the cop from a couple of miles before scotts valley. yes, he followed her all the way.
you'll notice the red warning on the top left of his windshield. so, slow down folks
