Ive spent too many of my working hours on cars that were meant to actually take the fastest way through a turn to understand the appeal of this glorified burn-out contest. But if it does it for you than more power to ya

no drifting is 100% independant from "road racing"
in fact drifting is so low on the social hierarchy of "car *racing* that in some contries it is considered taboo. in Luzon, for example, if a PI soldier catches you using the word "dripting" or anything sounding similar they are exectuted on the spot after they are forced to suck on the nuttsack of the officer making the charge. After the nuts are indeed sucked, the genitiles of the individual in question are then castrated and fed to him with a side of balut and shrimp paste, along with a bowl of rice *which is oddly enough a delicacy in Indonesia, read "Yan Can Cook in Asia" pg 225 3rd edition

Mex is right drifting sucks.
It's easier to compare drifting to iceskating than to racing. Iceskating is judged and drifting is judged, racing the first guy across the finishline wins, end of story. Anything where the winner is decided by judges is barley a sport, more a beauty contest.

I think the awesome part about drifting is watching the dude do about 100 into the corner and you think to yourself, "Oh **** he isnt gonna make it!" And then he just busts out this insane drift just holding the car at a complete sideways angle through the corner and just drops one tire onto the dirt and pulled it out so perfectly and beuatifully. Thats why drifting is great. Overhyped yes, retarded no.
