I don't necessarily agree with the sentence, but I sure as hell don't fear for my safety when dealing with police officers. That probably stems from the fact that I don't partake in any nefarious activity.

He got 2 years in prison updated as of 20 mins ago
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lano...sentenced.html
He'll have probation tacked onto that and will probably get out early for good behavior. He got off REALLY easy and even I think it's BS and I usually am big on supporting cops. He killed someone, being SUPER RECKLESS and all he gets is 2 years? They even have it on video, imagine if they didn't? He'd probably be walking if it wasn't on video... I hate how courts side with police officers no matter what the case might be, like they are super human and can't tell lies. It's all BS, we're all human and we're all flawed and that includes police officers.

I can ABSOLUTELY understand why folks would be upset over this verdict, but this lawyer is out of line with these comments. Fact is that if Oscar Grant hadn't been fighting on a train, and had not resisted arrest, he would not have been shot that night. I think "personal responsibility" includes not resisting arrest.

But if Mehserle wasn't at the scene, Grant probably wouldn't have been shot that night either..
With great power comes great responsibility.. With the power to carry a gun with you, you have the responsibility of using it only when appropriate. I don't think it was appropriate in this instance of even having it out of holster.
But I see yer point

something like thes went down in new york 3 years ago, a black cop killed ablack guy and the cop was asked to take 2 months off, the sad part is that people act like he did it because he was black. Should he have got killed.. no but it happend.

Man you guys really act like the cops are out to get you. Mehersle messed up and shouldnt have been on that train and that blame should go back to the academy that let him graduate without checking his mental state.
As for Oscar
Im a firm believer of Karma and looks like he pushed his luck one too many times.
Are you going to blame the great white shark for chomping down on your leg when you're out there in a wetsuit splashing around with the seals?
As for Oscar
Grant served two state prison terms for various felonies including a conviction for drug dealing.[40] In 2007, San Leandro police stunned him with a Taser to subdue him after a traffic stop, in which he threw the pistol into the air and ran.[11] He was sentenced to 16 months in state prison.
