Gauging Interest: Blast from the Past S.F. J-Town Lunch Meet
>>>>>>>>>>>>>!!!!!!!!!! Meet is on and thread is up!!!! https://www.i-club.com/forums/meetings-events-donuts-91/sf-japantown-lunch-meet-12-19-noon-177376/ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please direct any and all comments here please.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!EDIT: We are tentatively going to have this meet on Saturday the 19th at 12 noon. If no one objects by Sunday (the 13th), I will make this official and will create a thread in the Meets section outlining all the details. I intend to leave the RSVP open until Wednesday the 17th if we exceed 10 people since I would need to make reservations to ensure a table for us (although it's unlikely to be necessary, I want to be safe since we've sucked it in the past). Also, just an update: I visited Playground today and found out that starting in 2008, they no longer serve lunch. As such, if we remain at about 10 or under, we can probably eat at TAKARA if I make reservations on Wednesday. If no one objects to this time, place, and date by Sunday, I'll make an official thread. Thanks!Thank you and carry on!!!!!!!!!!
Now before anyone says anything, I purposefully did NOT post this in the meets section b/c this is just a thread to gauge interest. If we decide to do this, THEN I'll make a meet thread in the meet section. Thank you!
So anyway, it seems like an eternity since we last did a San Francisco Japantown lunch meet. Most of the folks that went probably aren't even on i-Club anymore But I've been itching to do this again, if not just for old times' sake haha.
But for those that do remember, we always had problems accommodating such a large number of people (outside of maybe the very 1st time, back when Takara was cool). I doubt that our "much-beloved" Takara will be willing to accommodate us (but I can try to talk to them if popular demand dictates such), and no one really enjoyed Benihana (ugh), so this time, I think that we should go to Playground. It's a Korean restaurant in the Buchanan Mall just upstairs from Denny's (outside where the water fountains are); it's big and relatively empty at lunch time although it has an extensive lunch special menu. Also, for those so inclined, it has an extensive bar selection as well Afterwards, as usual we can all kick it at J-Town and ogle the Option magazines at Kinokuniya and whatnot haha.
So what do you all think? Should we try to do this again on some Saturday sometime in the near future? If so, I wouldn't mind an assistant if anyone would like to volunteer. Also, I'm more than open to anyone's suggestions so fire away, ladies and gents!
