Well he hated america until he realized that he is making millions of dollars here... then took it back.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the guy and still horse dancing around my office, but I just think it's hilarious that it came up and he had to do some damage control.

Everyone hates America until they need us.

yea but i still think he hates america. he can take back what he says just to satisfy the the majority. but i would too if i was making big bucks and if that meant faking an apology, i'd do it in a heartbeat.

So as a Korean American familiar with K-Pop, i'll chime in a bit to say that Psy has been performing for a long time and he's always been the outspoken, opinionated type. Majority of K-Pop artists that are "grown" in the system have no opinion to publicly divide their fans, so the fact that he made such a statement (to some degree, just to elicit a response) totally makes sense. Also, Korea has had some interesting anti-American/pro-American trends since the Korean War, and the trend at the time (which wasn't really limited to Korea in the international sense) was to be against American military presence in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over time, with the war winding down and Obama in charge, the trend is much less anti-American than 10 years ago.

Then, you know, he got famous in America. And now he's very sorry.

Agreed, I'm not bashing the guy. It just kinda sucks as a military member living overseas myself of how the locals interpret us. Sure, we have some incredibly stupid people that go overseas and don't realize that living overseas you should be on your best behavior. In every port visit I made in my days overseas I spent at least one of my liberty days doing community relations (COMREL) projects in the host country (including a clean up at a children's orphanage in Pusan).
My point, we're not all bad (military over seas)... it just sucks that the bad outweighs the good and is then used as a trend to build a bigger fan base. But American artists do it too...

Getting off soap box now and bout to watch "Gangnam Style" on YT again.
