Front Mount Intercooler vs. Snow?

Not to sure where this thread belongs but I thought I'd give it a shot here. Anyways snow seaons comming and I enjoy hitting the slopes a lot to do some snowboarding. I was wondering what concerns do I have driving my WRX equipped with a Front Mount Intercooler in the snow? Especially with all the salt on the ground used to tear down the ice on the streets?? Think it would do some damage to my engine?

in no way will snow harm your front mount. if anything it will cool the air more than just letting air flow over it. as for salt being bad for it. you don't have to worry about that.

they don't use salt in california, they sand the roads. salt has too many negative impacts on natural streams and whatnot so they use sand instead which doesn't work as well but it doesn't have the negative effects as salt

Under normal driving, I wouldn't think you need to worry about the FMIC. The only way for the snow to cause problems is with a lot of snow.

WRC cars will sometimes plow through snowbanks, and the front grill will *completely* fill with snow. Then these guys will jump straight to WOT and will cause the engine/turbo to overheat because the snow doesn't have enough time to melt (its the same as anything that can block the flow of air over the intercooler). So, it is possible, but I think it'll be fine if you don't plow into a snowbank.

I didn't think water on the IC was that big of a deal? I've seen guys put bags of ice on top of their ICs at the track while water drips through. Can't be that bad.
