Front license plate idea

I have talked to a few people about this, I forget who. I finally found my pics of what I did, so I thought I would just put one up here. Basically, I folded the bottom at the numbers, and then folded the top about 45 degrees. Then I attached the screws, and carefully fold, bend and crimp the plate down. This displays the numbers (there are no stickers on front plates) and gives adequate airflow if you have a FMIC and are worried about it, and also hides the screws.

Only thing is, technically even though the number is displayed and you would be following the intent of the law, the letter says don't bend your plate - leaving an open door for lesser cops to give issues about it. When I have had a front plate, this is the only way I have done it. No problems yet for the 8 years I have been here.

Cheers,

-Jacob

Nice idea, but even without bending the plate it does not interfere much with FMIC air flow.

Yeah, 1-car.

Only once, back home (big island, HI) on my '88 Impulse. I was in line for food and a cop walked up to me, asked if it was my car and started giving me crap about the license plate. He said it wasn't legal - I asked him why. He actually told me it's because you can't see the state, only the numbers. I mentioned that for one, we live on a freaking island, and two - I don't know of too many other state's plates that have a rainbow across a white plate.. Another cop walked up and told him to quit being a dick, and they both said bye and left.

Other than that - no - cept in '02 a cop told me it looked cool (on my '93 Maxima).

youll still get in trouble cause they need to know what state your car is from and the main reason the front plate is to be on is for redlight cams

edgar,
Really? It's been 8 years - will I get in trouble soon? Should I be worried?

Hahaha.. I think: if you like this idea and all the good parts but DON'T only because you aren't sure if it's illegal, then.. You probably shouldn't ever leave your house.

BTW - yeah, I have a UK plate for my GT-4 now that the WRC bumper is on. It's going on front once the car runs (sheesh).
