Sounds like the center diff.

My '02 is doing similar things. It drives ok, but makes a grating/clicking noise when turning right. If I jack up the front and spin the wheels, I don't hear anything, so I guess this is likely to be the center diff as well.

I'm also having similar issues with my 2002, but it happens when I'm just driving straight so it may be a different issue. I hear a click-like noise and a small shift in momentum (like the load if the car is temporarily shifted to the front for a split second) then its back to normal and it will drive fine. It seems to happen more at lower speeds too. Any ideas?

Without hearing the noise in person, my WAG is a missing/chipped tooth on 1st/2nd drive gear.
Does the clicking stop when you depress the clutch?

It only makes one "click-like" sound with a sudden shift momentum and then it will continue to drive fine. This happens when the clutch is not pressed and I am in gear (it seems to happen in more than just one gear). Thanks for the help.

mine makes this loud rattling/grinding noise when im off-throttle left turns at medium speeds like off an offramp, or a long left handed curve.

dont know if it's the exhaust that's loose (weld by the downpipe/transmission connect area is cracked).

never happens on any right turns.

and of course every time i take it somewhere it's never been able to be reproduced.

hmm hopefully. i do know the bracket where downpipe meets transmission is broken. i DO need new motor mounts. as well.

oh well, something else broke the other day...both my lateral links in the driver side rear. lol! super fail =( almost crashed making a 25mph right turn.

oh well after a fix and an alignment, everything is ok for now.
