A free hooker for anyone who uninstalls my S-AFC
OK, maybe not a hooker, but I'll think of something as a gesture of thanks. (dinner, etc.)
Anyways, the first step in allieviating my CEL (Check Engine Light) is to uninstall my S-AFC. Believe me, I don't want to, but it's a must at this point.
I live in South San Francisco, but I'm (obviously) able to drive fair distances (i.e., East Bay, South Bay, etc.)
After 1 PM on Thursday and anytime between then and Sundays are the only day I can make it.
So does anyone here think they have the expertise for this kind of uninstall? Normally I'd take to a mechanic of some sort, but I'm almost flat broke (university student, studing Nutritional Science).
Can anyone help?
Thanks guys.
PS: Alex, congrats on the i-club sticker thing.

why do you think your S-AFC is giving you a CEL ?
Two consecutive driving cycles with fault
Symptom: Erroneus idleing, Engine stalls, poor driving performance
According to the Trouble Shooting flow chart;
Check Exhaust system for leaks (SM does not specify but I would presume this refers to up-stream of the rear Catalytic Convertor)
Check Air Intake system for leaks
Check Fuel Pressure
Check ECT
Check Mass A/F sensor

Why?
1.) The S-AFC is enclosed in the kartboy carbon fiber trim, within a custom (Subaru?) dash cover. I don't think that takes a long time.
2.) Isn't there splicing and diagram studying to do?
I remember the night that it was done, and it took a bit of time.
Dan, if I don't make it this Tuesday, I apologize. School is assaulting me with its workload. Check back in this thread, as I will definately post if I'm coming by then.
I look forward to your response.
we drive 99s, 99 got issues with the MAF, and i have a feeling it's something that has to do with that.

have you tried setting your S-AFC flat and see if you still get the CELs ?
with everything set at 0, it should not have any affect on your MAF signal, Im wondering if its a problem with the wiring instead and not the AFC

Believe me, there's nothing that would please me more than to sell a fellow enthusiast parts off my car, but people on eBay are paying top dollar for that piece of electronics.
Here's an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2440248006
It's currently at 212.50 USD, and that's not including the fact that I have the box, and extra mounting stuff for the Impreza itself which cost a ton of money.
When buying from these kinds of enthusiast sites, the prices need to be lower than I'm willing to sell it for.
I appreciate any advice/comments, though.

i will help you if you want to drive to fremont this weekend!!!
y0, have international b uninstall it for you dude... I call him the Wire ****, because he knows his wires.
International B,
I know this is asking a lot, but could you do it next weekend? I've got a 40 minute Nutrition presentation to give on Tuesday, a Japanese III exam Monday, and a slew of Microbiology lab practicals this week.
Are you free next weekend on Saturday? Let me know my friend.
Thank you so much, guys.
