Smile Former 4EAT driver would like a lil help...

Well, the point of this thread is I need to practice my 5MT driving before I get another Subie. My first car was a '89 Accord LX auto and my other one was my '00 Legacy sedan 4EAT that got wrecked. No one in my family has a car w/ a 5 speed so I haven't had much practice with it. I'm planning on getting a '00-01 2.5 RS but would like to be comfortable driving a 5MT before I get one. The only manuel cars I've driven was an old CRX and a '90 Legacy sedan, each of those I only drove one time, I did alot better when I was driving the Subie tho I've been eager to learn for a long time but just haven't really gotten the chance. So does anyone have a Subie that they wouldn't mind me learning on.. or just some old beater so I can practice?

-Jeff

that's like asking if you could use someone else's hand to practice stabbing a knife between teh fingers. just buy the car and go practice. within 15 mins you will be able to drive it. you can probably find someone to test drive for you.

if you can afford it, just buy a cheap beater to practice on.

Nvm then, I can still use my friends '90 Legacy 5MT but I just wanted to see if anyone else was willing to let me practice on something.

you can just get the car and practice on it...since you have mentioned that you have already driven a MT vehicle, it shouldn't be hard if you have done it before...good luck

honestly, i was in the same boat as u, learned stick a long long time ago, then got the wrx. It's not that bad...stalled here and there...then eventually u get the hang of it, plus the cluch is different on every car...so once u learned the concept of shifting u gotta get used to the clutch on YOUR car.

go get stickshift lessons from a driving school. I got lessons and they were $100 for every 1.5 - 2 hours. Only pay for as much as you feel you need lessons. You can find the schools in the yellow pages.

yeah I vote driving school.

Some dealerships will also teach you if you express interest in their vehicle.

My friend learned stick on a miata at a mazda dealership. lol just shows you how they treat their fleet...
