First tires now this...

So I went to LIC on thursday to trade Adam exhaust we notice that my front tire is pretty badly worn from a camber problem, On saturday that same tire blows out on me while on my way to work on the free way.. I cant get a tires because I have to work.. Sunday all the places are closed.. So Monday comes and I get my new tires and decide to make an alighment appointment for today.. I take my car to Big O to get the alignment done and they tell me that my front strut is blown.... I've been looking around online for some coilovers and the only ones I've seem to find in my price range are the helix ones... How hard would these be to install myself? I have a decent amount of knowledge on cars... Would a first timer be able to do this? Any install fests coming up? The helix coilovers say they are completely rebuildable so does this mean if one blows I can just take it back off and rebuild it as new? Do they lower the car at all? Any sort of adjustable?

This is on 03 WRX with almost 90k

Cliff notes: Tire blows, 1 day later find out my strut is blown.

I hear coilovers aren't to difficult to do, since it comes pre-assembled. I am not sure though. I am doing an install fest in mid Feb, but I assume that would be way to far out for you.

I've done a Helix coilover install before, piece of cake... you shouldn't have any problem with it. Just make sure to buy or borrow a digital caliper to set the springs where you want them.

I have a set of Helix Coilovers that I posted up FS a couple months ago...and surprisingly never sold. Used, under 10K on them, work fine, only selling because I demodded the car to sell it.

Bottom line price (and this is a helluva deal) : $500 cash, picked up in Santa Clara.

Me and my friend's done tons of suspension on my car. Whiteline Group4s, Ohlines sportline, STi pinks. It takes about 2-4 hrs depending on how fast you work and the tools. get wd40 ready

Yeah, suspension is pretty easy on Subarus. Very straight forward with basic wrenching. Hardest part is breaking the torque on the 2 17mm bolts (atleast I think they're 17mm). I broke a Craftsman socket trying to break the torque on those.

Or do like I did and take it to GST Motorsports and call it good. I am sure the price to install will surprise you. It's not as bad as you think and you know it will be professionally installed if something were to go wrong.

install is cake.....only downside is that you're gonna have to redo your alignment....

big O should have told you BEFORE they did the alignment.

They called me before the alignment and told me it was blown and asked if I wanted them to fix it. I said no I'll walk down there to get my car dont do anything.. They refunded me and said come back when you need an alignment and they gave me a 20$ off coupon .. Hmm how much did it cost for you at GST? Pm if you dont wanna say it on the forum. Im thinking of doing it myself but not sure if I will have the time to do it..
