First time at carnagie

Went yesterday for 1.5-2hrs..........was so much fun, but also pretty scary. Wrecked once trying to ride a trail with steep incline and busted my brake lever........was a biotch to get the bike back down the insane slope. Also got harassed by cops at the end because I didn't have my ID and my buddy had no spark arrestor. Anyways is definitely fun/scary......the sti is fast but so much easier to drive! well at least you don't have to worry about slipping on rocks......got my bike sat, 01 yz 125. This was my first time ever riding so I got about an hour in before my bike was toasted.......so sore just from 1 hr. Unfortunately I'm still getting a feel for the controls.

HAHA thats awesome! you actually got a bike!? after posting in some thread, i remember replying telling you to do it!

haha cool man. Yeah Carnegie is pretty gnarly, ive been there only a couple times. It mustve been a dust bowl out there. They have cool hill climbs. get back out there! another thing, if you want to be good at trails, ride around your house if you can, practice turning circles at full lock, over curbs, around cones etc.

As for jumping the track, i dont do that, mainly because everyone else does. There is always someone stupid enough to huck themselves 100 feet thru the air, and if thats what wins races, i dont wanna be a part of it.

yeah im sore after everytime i ride,
Riding dirtbikes is the MOST demanding sport for all muscles! racing at the limit all while balancing a 250lb machine! no they dont balance themselves!

Ill give rockclimbing a spot at most demanding sports too, i know people that run a race from Squaw Valley to Auburn RUNNING 100 miles! But thats mostly legs, and your mind because THEY ARE INSANE!

But as for working all your muscles, there is no better workout than a dirtbike. Its the reason i dont work out, eat fast food once in a while (used to ewat it way more) and have weighed 180lbs the past 5 years.

I dont see why there arent more riders here, Travis Pastrana went from Motocross to Rally because its the second closest related sport! but when dirtbiking threads come up, only 5 people reply.

they are pretty strict there, my friend got pulled over for doing 45 on the 15 mph straight 50 foot wide empty road. LOL its a DIRTBIKE PARK! what do they expect!

he didnt get a ticket, but the ranger was like "you were doing triple the speed limit, i could easily take you to jail" lol

but thats cool, at Hollister there are douchebags that just wheelie up and down the road, so its nice to see them get pulled over too.

Try riding Metcalf above SanJose lots of good singletrack trails, and a really nice motocross track...nicer than Carnegie and Hollister.

werd I'll give it a shot. Yeah my buddy finished rebuilding his so we went out super late and unprepared....i was just trying to learn basics of riding as I've never ridden before, probably shoulda waited to hit that trail but o well......I'm just glad the bike seems to be able to take some abuse. Oh yea, and that I didn't get crushed. I think I understand the point of 2 wheels now though, ditch it to save yourself!

I hate Carnegie even though it's about 10 minutes from my house. Busted my tube the last time I went there. Freakin rocks. It's not that bad when the crowd there is very small. Me and some friends have a place we always go riding that you can see from 205. If anyone is down to come riding in Tracy sometime let me know.

I'm a little worried because even tho there is a small piece of handle the brake no longer works at all, hopefully i didn't mess anything expensive up

Slow04WRX great photo, haha most people wouldnt get it focused! Anyways i dont know if you know, but you should be using your front brakes like 75% of the time/percentage. I know its pretty common sense, but most new riders only use rear, and its a bad habit.

You never go to Sandhill Ranch? i think its off Vasco, ive never been there but they have everything! not really trails, but dual slalom, mtncross track, trials area, and motoX.

you mean that place with the short hill climbs right next to the freeway? ive always wanted to ride there, it reminds me of Crusty Demons of Dirt 1 type terrain, but a little easier.

And is it legal? whats up with the law there?

Sandhill Rach is in Brentwood, that's the one you're talking about, right? Never been there, but I will do check it out.

Yep that's the place I'm talkin about. The dirt is nice there, but its the best a few days after it has rained. Right now it's probably somewhat loose, but it's usually nice and tacky. I don't know if it's really legal or not as long as we don't mess with the construction areas over there we're good. I used to go there after work sometimes and all the construction workers were cool with us riding there.
