here's the issue I see with mail order brides though I think they are a good win-win in concept.
People who make enough money, can get good pickings here in america - it's not like we've got nicole kidman like in the movie looking for a man on the internet. And those who don't make enough money to be attractive just based on that - won't really be able to offer the girl a nice life in america.
I mean, a single earner salary in the low $100k range doesn't really get you that far in the bay area, so you won't really be giving a good looking chinese girl say a better life in America than in China. And on top of that the girl will be useless. What can a new immigrant do here? Absolutely nothing except be a waitress or a hoe. Education, even college degree from overseas being pretty much useless here.
my .02, since after I broke up with gf after college, my company sent me to China to work for a while - and though being a chinese speaking ABC I dated some hot-**** chicks that are just like, unbelievable, I realized it would be a bad deal if I ever took one back, no matter how hot she was. So I just had to say goodbye
