I've just became a proud owner of an '01 Impreza 2.2L (GM4). Years... I've wanted an Impreza and now it's all a reality! Its no WRX not even a 2.5RS but for me its everything! I even drove to Placerville (45 miles north of Sacramento) just to pick up this ride! I've been in and out of this forum (the "other site" as well) and what made my choice to get an Impreza more concrete was seeing how great a group of enthusiasts all you owners are. Especially, that recent thread by 'sonicsuby' about "...more than just owning a car..." was inspiring. I've also been an avid Subaru WRC fan... GO PETTER! Before, I used to drive around to UCKK and San Jose I&O meets, just to take a quick glance. And I even gave the occasional thumbs up to Impreza owners even back when I was still in my Accord (may I add the only Honda with a Lovell/Freeman Memoriam Sticker from the "other site"). So anyways... if you see a plateless Arcadia Green Impreza Coupe w/ a Lovell/Freeman #4 sticker on the passenger side... show some Suby love! You can catch me around the South Bay. Primarily around the San Jose/Milpitas and Sunnyvale areas. Cheers!

Congrats and welcome to the club! I used to drive an Acadia Green 2.2 also... the fastest colour available, by far.

On the plus side, the beige interior is a lot less hot in the summer than the RS's black cloth. Also, the 2.2 seems to be a tad more reliable than the 2.5 in the long-term, although it's hard to say whether that's just because the RS guys drive em harder.

So, what's the first mod gonna be?

WOW! I don't know where to start! Thanks a lot guys! Especially to the person responsible for changing the title. Anyways, for the time being I'll keep the EJ22. I've heard a lot about how the phase II blocks are pretty reliable. So we'll see... As for a first mod I'm thinking about a nice suspension setup. There's a bit too much body roll for my liking. Any suggestions?! I was thinking of Eibach ProKit springs... but what shocks to go along with? Would it be too much stress on the stock set w/ the springs? Also, anyone got any stock alloys?! The hubs are just not too appealing. But, before all that I still have to see how I'm doing financially. Just still a bit too excited!

So... has the UCKK meet spot dispute been settled and are there still meets in SJ? I'll make sure to make an appearance sometime soon. Even as early as this week... tomorrow, right?!

Just some questions... I'm planning to do an oil change on my day off (I know the car's been sitting @ that lot for a long time). Any suggestions on what oil and filter I should use? The car has 29K+ miles... would fuel injector cleaner be good (if ever)? The car's an 4EAT btw (yeah yeah yeah...) anything inexpensive I can do to improve throttle response?

Get OEM oil filter, Mobil 1 synthetic and some STP complete fuel system cleaner and you'll be koo for now.
