To a Few Subarus in Santa Cruz

ahh whats up with the Subaru drivers in Santa Cruz? Dont mean to make it sound like i'm talking about all of them. But in the passed month ive seen 5 Subaru drivers who are seriously some jerks on the road. Ill talk about 3 of incidents..
Just the other day while driving through visit my gf in UCSC I had some stock looking white WRX look at me, when I gave him a peace sign he just turned his head and gunned his car going from like 60 to 100+ cutting off some people. Continued going my speed I ended up catching up to him at the light. Once it turned green he just launched his car in a 25mph zone speeding to I dont know how fast.
A week before that I was just driving along the roads to UCSC then some Red WRX Wagon charges at me and starts tailgaiting me at 50MPH in a 45mph zone. I start just tapping my breaks so he gets the idea to back up but he continues to tailgate me even closer.
Earlier last month a blue WRX with everything looking stock but his Exhaust pulled up to me in a 25mph zone and rev'ed his over and over. I just waved at him and then dude kept charging his car back and forth... back and forth.. trying to taunt me to race him in that 25mph zone or something. Then eventually he too just gunned his car and took off somewhere.
So I wonder whats up with those few Subarus in Santa Cruz i've seen.

Weird. i live in SC haven't seen any acting like this, maybe just 'bad' luck. I've seen some fast going subarus around here but they did not 'raceme' or cut/tailgate anybody.

Sory to hear that you got to meet a few of the jerks... most of us are not like that, I promise.

I'll probably get into trouble for saying this, but part of your problem is that you're over near campus. Buncha kiddies that need to shore-up their egos over there.

(Not all of them, of course... I know several young students that don't drive like bastages... but on campus, the demographics are against you.)

Up in the mountains north of town, where abundant Subies live and play, people are mostly really cool and good natured. Lots of "subie waves".

Come on up,
M

It depends on situation. common denominator is don't be a bad *** and don't block anybody. even if they are going to crash themselves or get ticketed(this option is preferable).

depends.

If you're talking about 17 and people going like 50-55 over..yeah it's the speedlimit but it's not fast enough in most non traffic filled situations going over 17. There are a lot of idiots that obviously can't read or are just bastards. Signs all over 17 that say slow traffic stay left. It's just not safe to pass on the inside on that road in a lot of areas. You end up taking the chance of cutting someone off or coming around a corner to the site of a big rig going 35mph.

I wish people would just move over..it's not an ego contest..some people just prefer to drive a bit faster or maybe are running a bit late for something...whatever.

either way it's much safer just to move out of the way.

Kinda like going 65 down 880 in the fast lane..just not safe.

Most Subaru's I see when im around in Santa Cruz are either parked and the driver isn't there or i'm walking and I just spot a Subaru. :P Sometimes I see this black WRX in this one parking lot in UCSC though.

This is on the UCSC campus on this one long road after you pass one of the gates. My gf's reminds me often to not speed in that area since there are police in the area. One lane road and the dude is tailgating me I guess trying to give me the hint to speed up. Dude should be happy I wasn't going under 40.
50 in a 45 i'd say is pretty normal so the dude shouldnt be tailgating me trying to get me to speed more over the speed limit.

That is the best part! The road you can see for super far on.

Well, if you see me doe something dickheaded, call me on it. I have yellow rotas on an 04 WRB wagon, though I am not in Santa Cruz as much as I used to be since I line on SJ now.

I always find that everyone is stock, and 99% of the time you see wagon WRXs they are just people that like speed and are practical. so they wont have many mods.

The SC dealership also has a red WRX wagon rental/loner car that I have seen numorous people driving while their cars are getting serviced.

I say **** the ones that think they are big ****, let them be rice and drive off a cliff trying to race in a straight line.

Which lot? lol it might be my stock one I leave it parked in the east remote and then usually park it at the health center or c10 lot on the weekends if I'm in SC.
