Feeler: SJF1 Formula 1 in San Jose

I've spoken with the owners and marketing of Britannia Arms on Almaden Expressway about hosting Formula 1 races on Sundays. We were thinking 8am for race start times, breakfast and bloody mary bar, mimosas, and full bar. Is there any interest in this? Get a hold of your friends and bounce the idea off of them. I need to see if we can get the participation.

8am on sunday?! I didnt even know theres was an 8am on Sundays too!!

Honestly though, ya we've had pretty good luck with the SFF1 meet up here, but its at 10 which is still a bit too early for most but is a pretty fair, its not live so no reason to do it at he crack of dawn, the people that are that hardcore will probably stay up to watch it live at 3am the night before anyhow, and will be easier on the staff of whatever bar youre looking at, bar people will not be happy working that early on a Sunday (papakiet knows what i mean lol)

just my .02, good luck!

not to derail but there's already a similar group: http://www.facebook.com/SFFormula1
They sometimes have events on the peninsula, which might encroach on your "territory" and the ability to draw people to your events.

Would there be any interest playing the live race?

Yeah thats our group that I was talking about SFF1, though I dont think we will be having any more races down at GokartRacer in Burlingame this season for a few reasons,

1. They dont serve any liquor there.
2, Most of us already lived in SF and theres plenty of sports bars here.
3. Seriously, they dont have ANY liquor! At all!

We'll prob have the rest of the races at Kezars here in the Haight, its great because its a sports bar so its already set up with about 20 HD flat screens in there and great sound. We get a good turn out, usually 40-50 people per race which makes it great for the bar too, unless theres some big superball team game thingy going on that day that all the meatheads want to watch.

How is the Britannia set up? great thing about most sports bars is they usually have tables/booths so everyone can sit and talk while watching, if its just a regular bar with a couple TVs on the wall behind the bar people usually just sit at the bar looking forward and the rest stand for the entire race, we tried that and it kinda sucks. Anyhow, g'luck!

I'm in more than likely. Seems hard to find a people who are really into F1 enough to watch it regularly.

Bah, I typed up my response then had an immediate urge to drop the Cosbys off at the pool. Hit enter when I returned only to see your response. I'm glad there's no more GKR. I enjoyed myself the 1 time I went to Kezar's to see a race.

Anyways, it's a valiant effort, but not much more to watch this season with Vettel and RBR running away with the titles.

The Brit hosts Just about every major sporting event imaginable. The are set up very well for it. TV everywhere and they usually break out the projector. All like 300" of it.

Early so the bar can make money off of B-fast and pay their ladies.
