Fanime Con 2003
marc (yamo), what are you doing on this board?!
hugo, are you the same hugo that has the 240sx? (you got a sti?
nice!)
marc (owlboogie): you did an awesome job with jen's cosplay soundtrack!! tell her they looked wonderful on stage, and you could definitely tell that they knew how to dance! woohoo! (did Jen hear me scream her name out? ^^)
josh: sorry you didn't like this fanime. maybe next year will float your boat? (what didn't you like about it btw?)
holland: sorry i could only say hi for a minute or so. ^_^
Right now I'm trying to figure out if I have the energy or money to go down to AX. Of course, all the hotel rooms are sold out so I might just have to camp out in my car if I do go.
We'll see.

My FanimeCon 2003 Mini-Report:
Stress City
That is all.
Okay, it really was stress city, and right now I'm just grateful I survived it. Between Thursday June 12th (yes, one full week before the start of the con) and Saturday June 21st, my body felt like it was going to fall apart. Damn, I don't want to grow old if that's what's in store.
My back was hurting, my chest/abdomen was hurting, I needed more sleep, I need more time... *sigh*
Sunday was much better (all I could think of was "yay! almost home free!) and good times were had. Monday morning started way too early (again). After dropping people off at the airport and cleaning up, I had a bit of a de-stress Jamba Juice lunch with my staffers. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on my state of being at the moment), I didn't die on my drive back home, though I caught myself dozing off many times on 880. At least my car stayed in my own lane.
Next time, I just need to make arrangements to crash somewhere near the hotel before I drive home.
I don't want to go through that again.
And they say next year is going to be 4 days? I think they want me to commit suicide.

Marc, I'm really considering the wonders of No Access. Where can I find my replacement?!
Oh, and it's not that I didn't try to leave staff. I did, and then I got the "recall" *sigh*

This year, all I needed was hook ups to get into the dance and the dealer's room, JUST ONCE. Everything else I did was outside of the con.
I need to get smashed at the next con.

2 HUGE problems with the con.
1) Timing. We discussed this one long ago Aya
I was right, the dealers room was pathetic compared to last year, assuming because AX is 2 weeks from now~
2) Dealers room, which stemmed from timing, I'd guess. Last year I'd wander the dealers room for hours, and I'd find something new every 10 minutes. This year, there were hardly any vendors, and pretty much every con-goer i ran into felt the same.
I won't be going next year, considering it's memorial day weekend, I assume the same thing will happen with lack of vendors who're taking the holiday off. I already know a number of people who aren't going just 'cuz they won't be in town to begin with. I think I'm gonna switch to going to AX, which sucks 'cuz Fanime was *really* convenient.

Josh: yes, timing is one of those things that will not work out for everyone. we'll see how the numbers turn up for next year with it being on memorial day weekend.
Al: yup, i've been on staff for the past 5 years. it's time for me to take a break!
