fatwallet has a review: (it's not my review)

I purchased the 512s a year or so ago from a previous FW deal [which is probably now archived] and put them on my saab 92x aero. The 512s have worn evenly and road noise is still the same. As for performance, in the dry and rain they are good value for the price paid. They have a softer sidewall than the 912 which helps with ride but at the sacrifice of cornering performance. Not sure about how good the 512 snow though as there has been little of it here in DC. The 512 seems to have a better dry performance tread design while the 912s has a better allseason tread design. However, the 912 has a stiffer sidewall and this will improve your cornering performance. I bought the 912s for the wifeys Outback 2.5XT as the OEM Bridgestone potenza tires are garbage. I went with the 912s over the 512 simply because they were almost prices the same.

From edgeracing.com:

Quick Facts:
The Falken Ze912 is the replacement of the ultra-successful Falken Ze512. It improves on the old tire in the following areas:

Better Handling (wet and dry)
Higher mileage warranty (now 40,000 miles)
Better and more uniform wear
Fantastic Value
Quieter ride
Asymmetric tread design (which means you can rotate the tires front-to-back and side-to-side as you wish)
Wear indicators
4 wider circumferential grooves for better hydroplaning resistance
Squarer shoulder (improved “beefier” looks)

It also has the same awesome 30-Day ride guarantee the old Ze512 had!

What we at Edge Racing think:
The Ze912 is a very important tire for Falken… it is replacing their most successful and award wining tire in their history. Award wining in comparison tests done by both consumer-goods and automotive magazines.

You really can’t go wrong by choosing the Ze912 if you are looking for an UHPAS (Ultra High Performance All Season) tire.

The only aspect that Falken was not able to improve on is the weight… the Ze912 is a tad heavier than the old tire it replaces (by a couple of pounds approx. on most sizes). This heavier weight is due to a much more robust construction and wider footprint when compared to the old tire.

We are pretty confident you will like the Falken Ze912’s all-year-round performance and looks.

Buy this tire if:
Both performance and treadlife are high on your list
You need all weather traction (this can include some snow)

Don’t buy it if:
You expect maximum handling performance (see the Falken RT615, Falken FK452 or Toyo T1R type tires for that)

I dont believe they are M+S rated. On falkens website they explictly state the 512s are M+s rated, no such remarks on the 912s

for the mostpart, i'm not going to try my luck with hard driving in snow and ice but i'm sure its better on there than the RE92s.... and even they(the re92) were fine snow tires.
