Falken...RT-615 or FK-452?
I just can't decide which ones I want
The RT's have such good grip, but the 452s can't be that much worse right? And the 452's have better treadlife which is what I'm going to need. This car is a daily driver and I need to go to work and back everyday, along with the occasional autoX and the oh so often highway 9 drives
The way I see it is that I don't really need the extra umph of the 615's since with the car's AWD the traction is pretty much good enough.
What do you fellow Bay Area suby drivers think?
EDIT: BOUGHT THE FK-452s!

I wish they still made the RT215's since they were a lot better than the 615's IMHO. but if your gonna use it as a daily i'd say get the 452's. even though the grip is not as good, you'll have a better all around tire(daily/occasional spirited driving)
Just my .2 cents

Treadlife and grip are essentially opposite... lol... more treadlife=less grip, and vice versa.
FK452 is all anyone really needs for the street. I run 615's on the street and they are overkill, but pretty fun. They're gone after <10k street miles on my STi. If you are trying to be competitive in auto-x then get 615's. If you're just doing it for fun, run the 452's.

tell that to my sh*ty *** dunlop Direzza's. 300 tread rating and they are starting to bald after about 8k. granted i do go up hammy occasionally, but not enough for this much wear on the tires. oh BTW, these tires suk major bawls if you want grip, I guess my stingyness caught up to me :Magic_07:

why not get bridgestone potenza re01-r? the price is a just a little more than rt-615 and if you are scca member, you can get $100 rebate for a set which makes it cheaper than azenis (or about the same?).
not sure about tread life, but they are supposed to be grippier than azenis both dry and wet.

I've had the FK-451 and currently have the RT-615. The 451's last a bit longer, but not with frequent Auto-x. I still have my RT-615 tires and love em.

i have the 452 and love them. They are good in the wets and in the dry's. I think 615 are overkill and the threads on those don't look like they will perform in the rain. No like we get any here anyway.
Be sure to shop around. I called a couple of place and i got my 452 for 500 bux. 17" 425

I second the suggestion of RE-01R's, but if you're getting 8k out of some Dunlops I think the RE's will wear in 5k. Mines Rd. grinds tires down like crazy since the road is so coarse. I'm not so sure about hammy, but I'd imagine it would be quite similar.

you can never have enough grip...as long as you rotate and have subtle alignment settings.
i have had two sets of Potenza 050's (140 TW) and they last 15K at least...they started cording due to a rallyX i had positive camber for about 2000 miles, thats what finally killed/corded them
for the price, RS2's...you get comparable grip and life, but who cares about life when they are 30-50$ cheaper

Treadwear can't really be compared between manufacturers. RE050's (non PP) are 140TW, but wear slower than Azenis which are rated at 200.
RS2's are a good value. So are RE-01R's at 100/tire ($125 ea minus $100 Car Club rebate from potenza.com w/ purchase of 4).
