Failed smog check..need help

I just reverted my 02 wrx back to stock and still failed smog check. I replaced the entire turboback with the stock system. The only thing I have installed right now is an uppipe. I also did not put back my stock air box that is in the fender. I have exedy clutch and lighten flywheel. Occasionally, I would get check engine check for misfire in cylinder 1,2,3. But I cleared all of them using COBB accessport. Let me know what you think? There is no CEL light on the dash

I passed everything except the line that says, "air inspection.....CEL Check engine light".

to make it easier, make sure there are no exhaust leaks at all. put stock airbox in helps A LOT. to facilitate, change your oil and drive your car for a little bit before going to get it smogged.

when did u clear ur codes?

there is a certain amount of miles the car must be driven to allow the car to be smogged... readiness monitors take some mileage to be set...

"readiness monitors take some mileage to be set" That must be it! I only drive for about 5 miles or so before taking it to the smog station. How many miles do you think I should put on before taking it to the station?

If that up pipe has a cat on it, then its probably needed. put the oem catted one back on.

Car Info: MY04 STi some call it a race car
your up-pipe has no bearing on the emissions portion of the smog and its not needed to pass. All 04+ STi and 06+ models have non catted up-pipes, this cat is technically not really even a cat but a pre-cat...and its not needed (visually yes you can not pass w/ it not being OEM).

your lightweight fly is more likely thank not whats causing the CEL(S).

the no CEL on the dash does not mean you don't have a code, what it means is it has not gone through all the monitor checks, if it catches after these are completed it will then put the light on.

let us know if we can help
