well the part about the little girl had relivance but the fact is that they did not need to show it as many times as they did. they were trying to get the point across that he lost his faith after what happened to him during that holocaust and that it would come back to haunt him. still, once was more than enough.
and as far as the little boy, i dont know about that... there is no excuse
