Exhaust Question

Im looking to buy a Tanabe Medalion Touring catback for the WRX, to replace the SRS ebay garbage. My biggest question is if the Tanabe is quieter? The SRS was good for the money but just too loud now.

Thanks'

Cobb or the Greddy EVO 2 are your best bet if you want quiet.

I have a Tanabe Touring Medalion on my 02 wagon and I also had a Greddy EVO2 on my wagon for a while when the Tanabe was out of comission.
In my opinion, the Tanabe is slightly quieter than the EVO2. The EVO2 drones very slightly on the freeway but it is barely noticeable. The Tanabe does not drone at all on the freeway.
The thing I didn't like about the EVO was that the way they routed the pipe it seems like the pipe sticks down much lower than the bottom of the car so it was easier to scrape the pipe.
Either one should be much quieter than the SRS

I have the Gimmick Motorsports 3" CBE and it is not loud but had a nice deep rumble when going through the gears and a clean sound when on the gas hard. at idle its damn near stock. In car and out my wife didn't even notice i had changed the exhaust until i opened it up getting onto the freeway. I'm in Sunnyvale if you would like to meet up and hear it. I have it connected to the stock DP, I will be installing my Perrin DP next week. Should sound even better.

If you want quiet? Why not stick with the stock exhaust? Stock WRX exhaust = free with car, and quiet aftermarket = $600 and up..

Sometimes, I just really don't understand you guys or it just something you learn with getting older.

I've worked in a high performance muffler shop, and while we were bored the owner would like to see what the difference between a regular replacement muffler and a so called performance high flow quiet muffler looked like on the inside with the baffle plates and baffle material placement. One muffler was $20 bucks the high performance muffler was $120, Lol, when having the 2 cut muffler cans sitting next to each other they both looked identical oh except for the chrome plating on the outside of the performance muffler.
It's all just marketing, there's only 2 mufflers out there quiet, and loud as ***k.. Hell, why even buy a muffler, you can use resonators for a freaking muffler and it sounds pretty good, plus they come in a variety of different sizes.

Well we actualy have a catless down pipe and up pipe with stage 2 software so stock is out of the question. I will look into the exhausts suggested. This is for the wifes car so she's making the final decission
