W3RD. I'm still not on board with the USDM 2500+/- cc thing.

and of course:

Spring and Shock dampening
Um, the 2005 US-spec STi has a helical front lsd. You can go check it up at subaru.com. As for comparing to the Spec C, I was referring to the changes to the Euro-spec STi. From that article, I gathered a lot of the Spec C bits went to the normal STi for Europe. Also, the US-spec STi has the same geometry as the Spec C (2540mm wheelbase) and same front ALK. The steering rack has been updated for feel, but is still 15:1.

I think you can put a turbo in the echo, since they do that in JP, but why would u spend the money on an echo... anyway... echo is good to commute... since it save crazy gas....

"open mouth, insert foot"

damn, you're right.

oh well, I guess I'll have to save up for the front helical LSD, which comes after having the factory short-shifter installed.

either that, or I'll just get whatever is new in 3.5yrs, when my lease is up!

That seems wrong too.

"The new Impreza inherits the Spec C's suspension geometry including aluminium lateral links on the rear and a wider diameter steering rack for improved steering response and feedback. "

05 STi steering rack is most likely not exactly same as 04 even if ratio is same. There was actually a post that said 05 is slightly quicker than 04 and now even regular WRX has same 04 STi ratio.

Spec C also has a strut bar and an oil cooler I believe. Also it's lighter weight with CF wing, no radio, smaller steelie wheels, etc. Some of which are options.
