Evo crash @ infineon this weekend, have questions...

Was anyone @ infineon this weekend? Does anyone know the owner of the evo that crashed into the tire wall around turn 8.

I don't know if anyone lurkes the evo forums but if you see anyone post about the crash can you pm me the link please.

My father in law was the guy he tried to pass, my f-i-l held the line through 7-8 while this knuckle head was trying to keep up with a vette. He should have waited for the track to widen out.

Anyway, evo is totalled, and I just wanted to know if this guy would try to pass the blame.

Im not even going to rip on the EVO guy here because even if he was being aggressive, Sear Point (old schooler here) is so ****ing unforgiving theres really very few "safe" spots to try to overtake anyone! Theres seriously no run-off ANYWHERE, any miscalculated pass that would end up with a a wheel well full of dirt/grass at Thunderhill will get your car totaled at Sears, clown on him if you like, but I will NEVER do another HPDE there, its not ****ing worth it.

I'm not mashing the guy, he was driving like a douche and after the fact was trying to say it was one person's fault or another, not taking his own actions into account

And krinkov I coulnt agree more, I keep my car the **** away from infineon cept for the occasional drag night

Thunderhill only has one or 2 spots where **** could get hairy, and you gotta be almost outta control for that. Its a pretty forgiving track. Infin has 0 run off as far as I'm concerned, and being I hpde my daily driver, not for me.

The one thing about the guy in the evo is he was running group 4 so he wasn't a super noob, but def didn't show he wasnt

Try looking for the guy on www.evoempire.org

There's a good number of Evo driving douchebags on that forum. I wouldn't be surprised if your man was on there.

Saw the car up at Works when they were unloading it from the flatbed. Did he hit drivers left, entrance of 8? There were some massive divots in the grass there...

Infineon is a great track and I enjoy the heck out of it. Parts of it are unforgiving, but that just helps keep me focused.

I hopped onto EvolutionM.net briefly but didn't see anything obvious about the wreck. Your f-i-l and the other driver pretty much did as they were supposed to do, hold their line. Evo guy thought he could thread the needle on an off camber & still wet curve. We were hoping that the A4's on board camera caught the wreck but it cut out just before it happened.

I agree there's almost no runoff around that track, but that just means one has to do an even better job of being up on the wheel. There were spinouts all over, from the carousel to turn 11. Got kinda tight at the pit exit more than a few times since there was a river running right across the bend until the final run on Saturday, lotsa ppl getting pushed to the outside and almost onto the grass/dirt It is NOT a place I would take my daily driver, & try to be too brave on a wet run. The drivers got some harsh words from the NASA officials in the meeting afterwards. The Evo driver couldn't pass the blame, it was all him and his wrecked car is the proof.

Nevertheless SEARS POINT is my favorite track, esp since its all I've driven. haha.
