Apparently the CDC and Yahoo have decided that 90,000 people could die this year from the swine flu. 1.8 million hospitalizations. Etc.


All I have to say is WTF? I already had it. It's gnarly but it's not that bad. If it was that bad and if they think it's gonna be that bad then maybe they should find a better way to deal with it.

My story...

Wife (pregnant) and I. Both sick. We go in for her since she's in the family way and she dupes me into it. I didn't know I had an appointment until I got in the room.

The doctor ends up pretty much passing over the wife. (idiot). and focusing on me.

Then tells me I might have swine flu but don't worry. Shoves a friggin giant cutip into my head. Then tells me whether you have it or not we won't know for 10 days at the earliest and there's nothing to do about it. Basically says they have medication but don't want to use it because it's bad if you don't need it and expensive.

Well 2 weeks goes by. I'm not not sick anymore. I get a call. You had the swine flu, how do you feel? I'm like... fine. Glad I'm not dead.


So basically they have a test for it. Have medicine for it. Don't like to use it unless they know. But by the time they know you're either dead or better.

WTF kind of system is that.



Everyone is gonna die. Better stay out of Salinas and Watsonville... oh wait I live there. Crap.

Wake me up when this is something more than media hype.

 

Ray, its a life threatening risk for the same people the annual influenza virus threatens too; the elderly, small children, and those with already suppressed immune systems. The media outlets will never focus on those that survived it, because who would watch that? No viewers = no money.

That's my point. The media needs something to take people's attention off of real problems so they have the swine flu.

It's not much more dangerous to normal people than regular flu but it has the hype right now. So many people come into doctor's offices saying they have it. Huge waste of money. People are paranoid.

I'm more worried about the unemployment rate and the quite transfer of troops to places we don't belong.

I have to stay away from sick cus i am one of those that probably would die arg.. i cant take medication and i have a very very very horrible immune system as it is. I have been this way since birth and well i have made it 34 years so far. Just have to wash hands a lot and stay away from the sick. If i can make it for almost 5 months with horrible horrible pneumonia i am pretty sure i can make it though this if it were to happen. The number one thing that screws me is the fact i cant take any kind of antibiotic or flu shot what so ever and i have kidney damage so lots of things effect that.

Since I don't pay attention to this stuff, has any major media outlet actually released comparison stats vs. the pain old regular flu?

I consider the general public to be pretty god damn dumb, but with cold hard facts, I think the hoopla would cease.

 

^ i think its been said that the normal flu kills more than the swinezomgful.. there were A LOT of threads on it when it was all "omg swine flu" time
