The End of America - Film

Here is the trailer for the film, so you have an idea what it is about.

Here is the full film.

Whatever your views are on America, this movie is worthy to watch. I can't say that I agree with everything in it, but Naomi Wolf provides a good argument while using historical background of laws that were acted out by Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and others.

interesting but when you put a movie together with the intention of making a bias point, it's gonna seem to be that "that's how it is". But I am sure someone could come up and make an opposing video to make the opposite argument.

just like how you have stuff like Fahrenheit 911 and fahrenhype 911..
you see fahrenheit 911 and think "holy crap i can't believe that" then you see fahrenhype 911 and think "uhh michael moore is a moron"

I totally agree with what you are saying. Always keep an open mind when watching political films no matter what the subject is.

Wolf raises a very good argument though.

I would not compare it to Zeitgeist.

The End of America has interviews with very credible people, while using credible sources.

The only argument I really use is that we don't know what is going on. In all seriousness, we have really smart people in the world and I think they're using it to their advantage. If everything was legit, they wouldn't mind auditing firms to go in and check the books, but with all these private investors and special interest groups its extremely tough to call...

There is one thing that someone always wants somewhere, and that is power and to take over the whole world. When the United States tries to say this "global" economy needs a Bank of the World, that just says too much.

I wouldn't say this docu-lecture goes against your views.

I just watch this earlier and the author/lecturer basically talks about how the constitution is being sidestepped and how it parallels the way past dictatorships were formed. Unfortunately it focuses the Bush administration as being the antagonist (for lack of a better term) because he was the topic de jure when this was produced. But if you look beyond that, she makes a very good points about gross executive power, Military Commissions Act, Patriot Act, Black Water, Gitmo, and leveraging the fear of terrorism to denounce journalists and protesters.

It wasn't exactly "Bush bashing", it was more of an example of how much power was taken by the executive branch under the guise of patriotism. If you have the time, I think it might actually pique your interests a little.

+1

It's too easy to only include things that make your point look very matter-of-fact.

Our gov't is too big. Period. That will be the downfall of America, that and a 'something for nothing' work ethic that has been adopted over the last 50 years.

I've got both of those movies, figured it was only fair to watch both sides.

I'm not a fan of invading a sovereign nation, but I don't think our govt was actually smart enough to engineer the 9/11 attacks.

I'm 100% against going in for the "war on terror" which is basically going to always exist as terror never stops. Invading with an excuse (especially an enriched country with oil) didn't seem far fetched. For a nation to be powerful, it needs main resources and oil was one that was on America's time for the moment.

I think the US is smart (not in terms of congress or even the presidency, but more intuned with the private international bankers who I'm sure control more than just America) because they've got us enslaved by our own idea of making money. We are actually playing a great game of monopoly. Yet the United States is manuevering all over the globe to so called "save" other nations and "support their democracy" and "fight against terror" and "protect against nuclear threat" til we control just about everything.

We have to look good, or we can't do it, so why not make up some stuff about it?

As far as 9/11 is in everyone's speculation. It just wasn't 'terrorists' who did it. The planes couldn't have caused the collapse. And the biggest thing that tells me it was a whole hoax was that the beams in the basement floors were cut in a diagonal shape. If it was any normal hit or sway or fall, it would have fell sideways, not straight down upon itself.

Hey though I understand your opinion, and I am not going to say that it isn't possible...

Don't kill my thread please. This film is about waking up to politics. I don't want the thread to turn into a 9/11 debate.
