27mpg on e85? That sounds crazy.

Not sure about WRX's, but LGT's mpg avg goes down to 15mpg on E85.

$2.60 seems expensive for e85, isn't it like $2/gallon at other gas stations?

I've been thinking of going with a stock STi swap when my two liter dies, maybe I should look into making it able to run e85 as well (even though you get worse mpg's)

I talked to a few guys running E85 recently and they were very happy with the extra power and torque.

From what they told me it is the equivalent of 100 octane but a third of the price, and you can run more boost because the temperatures are lower (disclaimer - glenspen knows dick about tuning so don't flame me)

I know that GST has turned out some E85 monsters so if your serious about switching try giving Mike a call.

Haha, my brother showed me that too. Also, for the San Jose E85, my brother says it's more like 90% alcohol.

That's true, but it's just that you lose some mileage (but the power gain makes up for it). Also, even with high flow cat, no puff of smoke or anything.

SO if you go E85 can you go with 91 as well or do you have to stay with E85 once you switch?

I heard that E85 is like running 100octane is this true as well?

E85 is roughly 105 octane by official rating, that in itself is decent for the price but the real gains are from the effective cooling you get from a Alky type such as Ethanol allowing you to see significant benifits in the charge cooling. Typically we see Q16 performance from E85 equipped cars.

you'll need to switch maps to switch gases.

Ask your favorite tuner, such as Mike at GST if you can tune for it, generally larger injectors are required.

You will want to be careful with switching gases between say 91 and E85, any amount of 91 will drastically change the tune if the tune was conducted on pure E85. Typically we recommend a wideband with warning box for all E85 tunes.

Personally I wont tune a car that is running map switching between regular gases and E85 unless it has a Zeitronix wideband with warning box, certain exceptions do apply but are not the norm.
