Driving while on the phone is illegal, but this is legal still?

Our wonderful governator vetoed a bill that would fine drivers $35 for driving with their dog is on their lap.

So my 60+ pound Basset (who does fit in my lap) can sit on me while I drive, and it's ok as long as I'm not text/holding the phone up to my ear. Ok, thaaaaaaat makes sense

I think it does make sense.

Usually pets aren't sitting on people but in the back. I see a lot more people on their phones vs hardly ever seeing pets sitting on their laps.

I mean, I think we should ban parents having their kids in their cars... cause that happens all the time, ****, some lady ****ing tboned me in a parking lot cause she wasn't watching the road, she was tending to her stupid whiny spoiled children!

Wait, are you saying it doesn't happen often it shouldn't be illegal? Or did I miss something?

Yes... cause I'd love to see how many accidents are resultant from people having pets in their cars...

I think it's blown out of proportion sorry.

The whole deal is political, Arnold vetoed it so he could hammer on the state legislature for wasting their time on trivial stuff like this while they should be working out a balanced budget and other higher priority items.

I think if it weren't buried in a whole pile of similar BS laws he might have signed on even, although it probably really comes down to liking to have his Doberman ride in his lap when he drives the hummer...

People shouldn't be allowed to carry children in a car either. The number of times I have seen moms distracted by their brats is untrue.

Funny you should say this...

Every morning on my way in to work, I drive past a little dead Dachshund (sp?) dog, lying in the center divide on Hwy 17N near the 101 interchange, and I can guarantee you that this was the exact scenario that played out. IMO it is just as much of a distraction as talking on your cell phone, doing makeup, eating, shaving, reading, or doing anything OTHER than driving while behind the wheel of a moving car...and those things aren't "illegal," but that doesn't mean it is not just as dangerous.

why are people so willing to give the government more control over THEIR lives.

I'm glad it was veto'd I wish they'd veto more stupid laws.
