i have had a problem once going up a hill and it was while offroading and not too many vehicles actually make it to the top of the hill.

have you tried reving it up and slipping the clutch? i know its not good for the tranny, but it allows you to stay away from the 1k to 2.5k rpm level where you get zero power

Zoeb, Now that I know you slipped the clutch, use your e-brake to hold the cars position while you give more gas and ease off the clutch. Try it.

I got cha now. Well..... If it's not one problem in one car, it's another. Somehow I'd choose bogging up the hill over scrapping on the bottom of the hill....

I've had this kind of problem too - I had to rev it at the bottom of the hill, I didn't slip the clutch though, and charge up kinda fast and let off at the apex.
