I have gotten a very fair price from them - I ended up going to Santa Cruz Subaru, because of the color/model I wanted but honestly, they gave me a very fair price for a WRX a couple of years ago and another enigneer in my office bought from them, at a killer price, for the car they were trying to move.

I walked in, got a bunch of BS for about 45min and walked out. That was in 03 so those people may not be there any more. I ended up going through Costco auto program, and the nearest participating dealer was Diablo Subaru/mazda/etc.

Thumbs up

we bought our new legacy gt from kay at downtown. super laid back guy and it was a completely painless purchase. i went in knowing what i wanted to pay for a lgt wagon and we sat down and within ten minutes agreed on a price and shook on it. (Complete opposite from the IDIOTS at Stevens Creek Subaru:EVERYONE, NEVER GO TO STEVENS CREEK) {ok, rant over}

since then, i've had a couple of warranty issues with my 02 wrx and the service center is far above any experience i've had at other service depts. chris in service made sure my problems were taken care of the right way so i wouldn't have to go back with the same issues. Downtown will get my business in the future.

I picked up my CGM Forester XT from Kay, he's pretty cool...we also got an Saab 92-x there too, also from Kay. The only complaint is...I still don't have my plates yet, and I'm worried they send it off to another address, because that's what they did to my touch out paint....but overall, it's not bad unlike steven's creek...

I got my '03 MBP WRX there in July '03. My dad and I have been shopping around for a WRX. We called everywhere for a MBP. We found one in Oakland, told the dealer the price we got for another dealership to see if they would give up a better deal. On the phone, they agreed to the better price, but in person, they gave us a totally bogus price. So for a good 15 minutes of bs, we got up were about to leave. Then the sales person quickly tells us to sit down and he gets his manager. The manager then goes ahead and oks the price that we were looking for and kept mumbling stuff like "we're losing a lot of money on this sale." After that, my dad wrote SOA a letter about our experience and how his experience at Downtown Oakland was less than satisfactory. About several weeks later, we recieve a letter of apology from SOA and a little fake leather (pleather) notebad with SUBARU on the lower right corner.

Hopefully things have changed since the last time I have been there. Since then, I've been dealing with my warranty issues at the Subaru dealership at Redwood City.

I bought my 05 WRX last december here from Steve Litwin. Got a decent (fair for boh of us) price and a quick transaction. No problems - would go again.

Their service dept are worthless though....

whats wrong with your wrx wagon doo doo?

when i went to oakland a year ago to buy an 05 crystal grey, i talked to a guy named chris. on the phone he said yes to everything, yes the car is in stock, yes it has less than 10 miles, yes we can meet your OTD price, yes yes yes. but when i got there, i test drive the only crystal grey wrx on the lot and it had 200+ miles on it. when we were done, we went to talk pricing, and he gave me a totally different price for the 05 than what was mentioned on the phone. i then asked him if i could see the other crystal grey with less than 10 miles, and he said the one i test drive is the only one they have. when i asked him about our agreed OTD price, he said, "oh, that was quoted for an 04, i thought thats what you wanted." never when i talkedto him did i even mention an 04. my experience there was less than great. needless to say, i never went back there again. good luck on your purchase tho dude.
