You pay like $10 a year, so the message boards are legal since its a private club. You can download ANYTHING within seconds.
I can download songs in literally about 10 seconds, that includes the searching part.
There are many different news group clients, google it. I use newsrover.

I use a Mac program called Cabos, it's also available for PC, I think. It'll connect to Limewire and Nuetella networks. I never had a problem with fake files.
Man, I miss AudioGalaxy. I remembered I used that when Napster went down and I could remotely download stuff as long as my computer was on and my account was signed onto the client on that computer. I just sign on the website, queue up some stuff and it'll download to whatever computer that's signed on. That was awesome.

Limewire is a good way to get low quality mislabeled crap and viruses.
Use a torrent or i-tunes or something else. I get some of my stuff here... www.gomusic.ru. It's russian. CD's cost about $2 and the quality is good.

In my experience, I had better chances of finding indy and sometimes even foreign pop music (JPop, Korean, etc) on Soulseek than a nuetella network based peer 2 peer client. For mainstream stuff like your usual top 100, Cabos worked great. It'll get me the results and reads ID3 tags (just song title, artist, and album, also displays song length). I usually download ones that has ID3 tags and compare the song lengths to the real downloads from the iTunes store. With Cabos, I've had success finding old school stuff that I used to hear on the radio and anything that's new.
