My parents would use belts and wooden cooking spoons. It seems harsh but works. I turned out alright. Thats what these kids now a days need is a good ol fashion *** whoppin. None of these bull**** timeouts.

hahaha LOL, stop it, you're bringing back my memories of the 80's! Of course, my mom stopped beating me with it the day I finally snapped and BROKE that damn featherduster. When she wasn't looking, snapped it clean in half, and put it back.

Yeah, good times.

P.s. got a lil' youngun. Discipline is fine and necessary, and she knows that when Daddy starts counting down, she better not let me get to ZERO. Nothing wrong with spanking, as long as you don't physically hurt (broken bones/twisted joints/lasting marks) your child and/or you're not doing it purely out of your own frustration. Kids need to know right and wrong, and if we don't do it, it's only their friends and TV doing the raising. HELL NO. (stepping down from soapbox)

The day the whoppings stopped was the day my mom went to swing the wooden spoon to try and hit me and I grabbed it in mid air and snapped it in half. That was the end for that spoon. Then I ran outside and didn't come back in until things had calmed down.

LoL, I tried to do the same thing but my mistake was that I didnt know my grandma had more than one. She later beat my *** for breaking the previous feather duster.

Classic ^^ Like how you ran off and waited for things to calm down I remember getting one of those wooden spoons broken over me butt.. But hey I turned out fine.. Think I ran across the road or something I was like 4 or 5.. Hey I still to this day look when I cross the road.. Lesson learnt LOL
