i don't know what kind of huge doughnuts you're talking about, but bob's donut in SF can make gigantic ones. they make them for x'mas and last time i asked would they make me one off season they said just let them know.

If you go to the beach boardwalk in santa cruz right by the bumper cars, they sell them. My wife spotted them because I had been wanting one ever since I saw the episode. I couldnt though because of the beach soccer tourney. Kinda far but if you are ever out that way go by.

they need to put something inside of the donut IMO. Or make a normal donut, then wrap more dough around it and re fry
Its like french fries, the smaller ones are always better, because they have more fried goodness, and less potato.
