on the news a few years ago, during a car chase a cop failed to negotiate a right turn due to "mechanical failure" and went straight into the corner of a building out in LA
Video in first post is at the CHP Academy in West Sac. They USED to give one wicked cool public demo every year at the "Cops n Rodders" car show there...unfortunately that show went away a few years back :(

Kyle : with the right tweaks (hint : the cop versions of the Crown Vic and the old Caprice receive most of those tweaks from the factory) those old copcars handle quite a bit better than you think. Things like better swaybars, beefier springs, and Bilstein shocks (OEM) work miracles over the "Grandmama special" suspension in most of the Civilian versions of those cars ;)

Dammit, why cant they have that next week when I'm off from work. All I get to do is First Aid/CPR recerts.

I<3subie 01-27-2009 12:07 PM

I finally gave in and watched the 1st vid. That is not your everyday police officer driving skill level.

But any anyrate. I'm now glad to see my tax dollars at work.

While this would be a great class to take to brush up on my skills. I dont think driving my car into a lions den would be productive. Least not me for anyways.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
