hey jeff, or anyone who can answer this..

anyone have any suggestions to stop puppi biting? any time i play with my pup, it wants to bite the crap out of my arm and hand with his needle sharp puppy teeth.. any tips would be greatly appreciated!
and jeff i LOVE the crate and so does my puppy bruiser, he has a great liking to it, just put his favorite sleep pillow in there and he goes in there to chew on toys, treats and sleep.. he actually left my room to go sleep in there.. very happy i purchased it!

You can do two things:
1) Get him a proper chew toy or bone. Rub it all over him, and he will smell his own scent, and know it belongs to him. Praise him when he plays with the toy.
2) If he bites you, immediately pull your hand away and tell him "NO" firmly, and do not give him any attention. If his chew toy is not available, bring it out to him. Continue to withhold attention if his teeth even so much as touches your hand. If he assumes seated position, you can pet him and praise him.

You don't want to hit your dog or give him attention if he does something bad. Just look him in the eye and tell him "NO". Then praise him when he does something good.

wu hit it pretty much on the head, in regards to biting. That's great to hear about the crate. Just don't leave him in there for to long for any given time. Vary the amount of time he stays in there. You'll be golden.

awesome thanks wu, i have done the "no!" thing but the ignoring him thing i havent done. i will incorporate that.

and jeff i only put him in the crate for a little bit after eating, then take him outside, after playing then take him outside.

is it ok, if i am gonna be at work all day, to feed him, let him do his business outside, then leave him in the crate while i am gone? i am thinking about getting those walls, that hook up so he has a bit of a playground ya know.
but until then is leaving him in the crate ok while at work? (soon enough i will bring him to work, as my office is very good with pets being with the employees. i just want to train him a bit more so that he truly listens to me when i call him.)

again guys thanks for all the info.. it feels like being a fricken dad, except babies dont bite me.

Can your puppy hold it all day long while you are gone? I know my friend was crating his dog (when she was still a puppy) as you described, and going home every day during lunch to let her out for a while before going back in the crate.

Since my dog is old enough, I let him stay outside in the backyard all day long with food and water. He only eats enough in the morning and after our dinner time. His weight does not seem to be a problem in spite of food being available to him.

If you leave one or two special toys in the crate that he does not normally have access to, he will want to go into the crate to play with those toys and won't mind the long stay as much. Make sure those two special toys stay put in the crate when he's allowed to wander out.

That's another thing I learned from the book, "The Perfect Puppy".

Greg It's ok to leave him in there for a while. Just come home for lunch and let him out, feed him play with him for a while and then put him down again. Just don't leave him in there too long. Again the idea is control when and where he goes to the bathroom. By instinct he will not soil his den. You take control of his behavior. If you allow him space to roam while you are gone he will go potty outside his crate, then climb back in it to lay down. Use the divider to limit how much room he has inside the crate so he can't go in one corner and sleep in the other. Your on top of it man. Your asking questions and getting answers. Good stuff right?

i'd say if it is your first time owning a dog, take it to doggie school. you will learn lots of valuable tips and such. also pick up some breed specific books and you will learn a lot. most important thing is positive reinforcement.
