Does anyone want a CRX for a swap?
I have a friend in Santa Barbara who just bought a new Civic Hybrid (as in hybrid electric, not as in civic+engine swap hybrid) and he's wanting to be rid of his old CRX.
It is the HF version (mass fuel economy, lightest chassis, no frills), manual transmission. Totally stock, he's not the type to mod a car. I've emailed him to verify the year, I think it's a 1990, but I'm not sure. It is the 2nd gen bodystyle (88-91).
It has almost 250,000 miles on it, and the engine is toast. It has a crack in the block and mixes oil and coolant. My buddy affectionately calls the car his 'frappachino maker' It still drives, but it is very questionable how long it will continue to do so. I believe it starts overheating on long drives. My guess is the radiator also needs replaced since he's used the block sealer stuff, which can block passages in the radiator too.
The body is in good shape with a couple scrapes on the rear bumper, and the interior is in good shape for a car with 250k miles on it. The tranny is in good shape too, but it's unlikely anyone swapping would want an HF tranny, it's geared TALL.
He know's it's not worth much, but would like to see it go to someone who will use it rather than just junking it. About the only person who would get much use out of it would be someone who doesn't want the engine anyway.
I will tell you that he has very little clue about what the value of the car might be to an enthusiast, he just knows that people do swaps into these cars.
He is asking $500 obo, contact wdforsale@hotmail.com
I thought about buying this myself and swapping, but I'm looking for a house and I don't need another time/money suck right now. If it was 6-12 months later, and I had a garage and some money, I'd be more seriously considering it.

He's a bit, um, well **** retentive about certain things.
In school he'd take notes at class, then go home and copy the notes onto individual papers that had the diagrams and charts done perfectly with handswriting you could mistake for a typewriter.

Yeah, i'm One Man Arym's "buddy". I'm interested in your friends crx, if he hasn't sold it yet. I e-mailed you about it as well. My e-mail is gods_musician777@yahoo.com Let me know if you've sold it yet, and maybe we can set something up soon! I'm looking to buy pretty quick, even within the next week, so just let me know!
