Does anyone here have a Tempur-Pedic memory foam materess?

Good morning to my fellow BAIC'ers, hope all is well on this wonderful (year right) tuesday morning...

I've been suffering from back pain pretty much my whole life and think a mattress would really help me since mine is old and well due for a changing. My wife and I have talked about getting a Tempur-Pedic (the name brand, not a knock off) memory foam mattress. We've gone to the showrooms and laid down on a few of them and we think they are pretty comfortable, but don't have any experience with them in the long run, nor do we know anyone that has one.

A while back I tried out a memory foam mattress topper from Costco which just sat on top of your normal mattress, and that was a huge mistake. The mattress topper totally defeats the purpose of having a full memory foam mattress, and it was some off brand which was too soft and caused more pain then I had before.

I know there are different types, we're looking to get a firmer version (not the firmest) and was wondering if anyone here had one and if they could share any info with us about it.

How do you like it? If you had to do it over, would you get one again? How much money did you spend on yours? What size/firmness? Do you suffer from any type of pain that the mattress has helped? Has the mattress helped you fall asleep at night?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions but it's a lot of money and we want to make sure that we're covering every base.

I think one of the reasons that I have insomnia as bad as I do is because of how uncomfortable my mattress is... There's a big indentation where I lay (permanent) and the springs are pretty compressed so there's no real support anymore. I'm hoping that this mattress (or at least some kind of mattress) can help out some of the problems I have currently.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your responses. I don't think Ive ever really been excited about getting a mattress before... lol

BTW....traditional American matresses are truly horrible for your back, lack quality, etc.

The knock offs aren't nearly the same as the real ones... I know most people think they are the same, but they aren't... The real ones are worth the money, there's a reason they cost $2k and that the knock off costs $300. The one you have is just a dense foam mattress, and I know it feels similar to the real one but it's not. A lot of tech goes into the real deal... The knock off I had made my back hurt more then it did before I got it.

I bought mine 8 years ago and am fully satisfied. I got a California King -72x84x8- for $1975.20 installed. There were no firmness choices.

I have one of them $2000 tempurpedic mattresses. I LOVE it.

Its firm, but after you lay on it, you slowly start to sink into it. I sleep in one position all night.

Man, one position all night? I don't think I've ever done that before in my life... lol, sounds so nice.

In a typical night I toss and turn (change positions) at least 25-30 times BEFORE I actually fall asleep... I also toss and turn while I sleep. Ug, it sucks.

I've been having back pains for a year now, especially with cold winter mornings. Nothing major though, a couple minutes under the hot shower normally does the trick.

Your wife will love it too since you won't wake her up when you toss and turn but watch the Penn and Teller Bull**** episode on sleep, its probably on youtube or if you have netflix you can watch it instantly.
