And I thought my right front had curb rash.

Looks like those wheels came off a car that was wrecked big time. You can fix them but you might be able to find pretty close to new. You see people selling them for around $600 a set and they look new.

I know, I have seen some people selling them for that. But they do not seem to have them or not responding to my inquiries.

I want a set to powdercoat for spare wheels so paint scratches are fine. but the curb rush is not repairable via powdercoating... (is that right?)

that curb rash looks pretty bad....I believe it can be fixed, but will have to be ground flat again before any painting. I'm not sure if that would compromise the integrity of the lip on the rims....but i'd ask a wheel repair shop for a better response.

Do a search on iclub....there have been a few threads over the past year or so about rim repair and links to shops that can do it. I'd check that out first.

found a couple for ya.....

They are fixable. They will have to sand the lip down and then powder coat it. I don't know if the rims will become weaker during the process though.

unless the rim has to be reshaped.. i dont think it will be come weaker.
will have to be sanded down and repainted. expect to pay upwards of $200 per rim.. or maybe as little as $75.. thats my experience.

There is a place in santa clara that does this kind of work..
They are expensive.. even though everything they do is price negotiable.. if you know how to bargain.
I cant recommend them because i had a bad experience with them myself..

On the other hand.. they have alot of good feedback from other customers.. and they are maybe one of two places ive heard of in california that does this sort of work.. they are off De La Cruz / 101

It depends if they cost 100 plus each wheel then it may not be such a good deal. If it includes the powder coating it may be ok. I will check with Moss brothers see if they will sand/powder coat them down.

So how much you guys thing I should pay for them?

they work like alot of the paintshops..
if they have to mix up paint for your rim itll cost you a certain amount to mix the paint..

if you paint all 4 rims.. you only have to pay them to mix the paint once.. so you save money that way.

Im not sure how much the rims are valued at.. but id like to know..
The same ones i believe came stock with my STi.

In any case.. if the cos tof the purchase + repairs is more than 80% of the value of the rims.. Id just buy new ones or find a better deal on used ones.

agreed. If it costs more than $100 each wheel to repair/powdercoat it gets a bit expensive. ($400 for repair)

So I have to decide.

Cheers

Got an estimate from wheel techniques (over the pics of the wheels) so they did say it may end up different for a range of $125-155 per wheel.

Unless I got the wheels for free (which I am not) I do not think it is worth it.
