do you guys think i should fight this ticket?

a few days ago i got a speeding ticket on sunet blvd in san francisco. it was on wawona i think. the motor cycle cop said he got me going 57 mph with his radar, but i really dont think i was going that fast. it was around 4:50 in the afternoon, so there was plenty of traffic. i really dont think i could have had enough room to be going that fast.
do you guys think if i fight it, i would have a chance of winning?
tia

what sucks even more is that i was driving my sis's civic the entire last week, and today i decide to drive my car to get some pizza. on the way home i get a flat two blocks away from getting home.

so, i should just pay for the ticket? the cop told me i could just go down to the station downtown and pay for it so i dont have to wait for the ticket to be mailed. is that true?

I dont know how it works out in California, but if I were you, I wouldnt fight it. The cop now has physical documentation(the radar info) and he will def. use that in court. It's pretty much a one way street when it comes to going against that law, and they usually win....that is unless he dragged you from your car and beat you with his flashlight for no reason. By the way, did he look like Ponch? Good luck to ya either way!

if he used radar, in busy traffic, and he was oddly possition, his radar could have picked up another car.

Do some googling on filling out a TR-205, or pay the $25 for ticketassassin.com to see some examples and email help.
I am fighting my radar tick I got in weaverville based on this info, hopefully I will win and get a refund. =)

BTW, even if you do fight it, you still have to pay the bail/ticket.

Just to clarify mcdrama's post...you'll pay the "bail' but if you are found innocent, you'll get it back.

How fast were you going?
Lights on sunset are still timed for 30 or 35 mph, right?
So you were probably going that speed, in order to make all the lights w/out having to hit the brakes.

He probably got another car, right?

Try fighting by written declaration first; get all of your evidence(cal cert for speedo, pictures/diagrams of cop's location, speed survey of sunset, etc.)

i was probably going somewhere in the 40's i know i was speeding, but there was also other cars next to me there were going faster or around the same pace as me.

when you said get all my evidence. what exactly do you mean? i dont know where that bike cop came from. he somehow popped up right behind me.

and can someone give me a step by step of how i fight the ticket with ticketassassin or how to fight it in general? im kind of lost.
tia again!!

oh also, if i lose it, can i still take traffic school? i did traffic school in october 2003. am i still eligible?

pick driving school if you can!

I remember last time when I went to driving school, at least 5 or 6 of the "classmates" were caught speeding on sunset blvd...... From that time on, I only go 35 on sunset blvd (The lights will always be green that way. It's just a waste of gas and brake by going over 35mph...)

always fight it by written declaration. even if you only have a half assed argument... reason being if you loose that, you still pay the same fine in the worst case. if you do lose, you get a guaranteed new court trial (different from a re-trial). if the officer doesn't submit his paperwork on time, you get dismissed and are scott free.

goto ticketassassin.com

Btw Vic, if there's cops on Sunset Blvd, they're always hiding in the intersections between Vicente and the lil Bridge close to Ocean St. There's also a motorcycle cop patroling Sloat Blvd a lot.

Also, if u didn't admit u were speeding while he questioned u, u should be able to have a better chance of fighting it.
